LOST loved ones will become shining lights this Christmas when families remember them on a special dedication tree.

Families are remembering people who have passed away with a special dedication on a Tree of Light at Macclesfield Cemetery.

Residents have been collecting stars from the cemetery lodge and the Visitor Information Centre at the Town Hall to dedicate them to the memory of a loved one to be placed on the tree.

There will be a poignant ceremony to celebrate the lives of the loved ones remembered on the tree. It’s being run again this year by Orbitas, the council’s wholly-owned bereavement service company.

The ceremony of remembrance will feature a choir singing songs in tribute to loved ones and Christmas carols to join in with before the Christmas tree lights are turned on.

During the event, the lights will be switched on to symbolise the illumination of the memories of loved ones at Christmas time.

For more information call Orbitas Bereavement Services on 01625 383948 or email bereavementservices@ orbitas.co.uk.

The Tree of Light ceremony is on Friday, December 9, at 4.30pm.
