Award for loos

TWO pubs have shown their toi­lets are more than bog stan­dard after win­ning ac­claim in the Loo of the Year Awards 2016.

Wether­spoons pubs The So­ci­ety Rooms in Park Green, Mac­cles­field and The King­fisher pub on Lon­don Road South, Poyn­ton have been awarded a plat­inum star rat­ing by in­spec­tors – the high­est award pos­si­ble.

The awards are aimed at im­prov­ing stan­dards of toi­lets across the UK.

In­spec­tors make unan­nounced vis­its to hun­dreds of toi­lets to judge them on cri­te­ria in­clud­ing decor and main­te­nance, clean­li­ness, ac­ces­si­bil­ity, hand wash­ing and dry­ing equip­ment and over­all man­age­ment.

The toi­lets are graded from bronze to gold with un­ac­cept­able toi­lets not graded at all.

The plat­inum rat­ing is given only to out­lets which of­fer ex­cep­tional toi­lets.

The So­ci­ety Rooms is man­aged by Lau­ren Eames, who said: “I am de­lighted with the award.

“Staff at the pub en­sure the toi­lets are in first­class con­di­tion at all times and it is great that this has been recog­nised by the in­spec­tors.”

The King­fisher is man­aged by James Doyle.
