Dates for next eagerly-awaited festival revealed
THE team behind the hugely successful Bollington Festival has announced the dates for the next event.
The festival, founded by Dr John Coope more than 60 years ago, celebrates the arts, sport and science, and attracts thousands of visitors to the town.
It celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2014, and after three years of waiting, its return for May 2019 has been announced.
John Beck, festival chairman, said the focus is now on raising cash to support the not-for-profit event, with a target of £70,000.
He said: “We are aiming to raise £70,000 over the next two years. There are a couple of bigger events planned – such as the Beer Festival and the Garden Festival – which we are hoping will raise a good chunk towards it.”
An Open Gardens event, organised in aid of the festival, will take place on Saturday, May 27.
The Bollington Beer Festival, which will this year support the festival, takes place on July 21-22.
Volunteers are also encouraged to organised their own events, or join the 100 club, a £1 lottery which raises funds for the festival with a cash prize each month. For more information go to bollingtonfestival.org.uk.
