Al­most £2,800 for com­mu­nity projects

AN ARTS project, home­less char­ity and al­lot­ment group are among the win­ners in the lat­est town coun­cil grants.

Mac­cles­field Town Coun­cil has been recog­nis­ing com­mu­nity groups and events by ap­prov­ing an­other batch of grants for lo­cal projects.

This in­cluded £680 for the By­rons Lane Al­lot­ments As­so­ci­a­tion to cut back over­hang­ing trees, £1,600 for Mac­cles­field Com­mu­nity Artspace to pro­vide a stage for a street theatre re-en­act­ment and £500 for char­ity Tree­house to run an event for home­less and vul­ner­a­ble peo­ple in Mac­cles­field.

A town coun­cil spokesman said: “If you’re hold­ing an event or launch­ing a project which will ben­e­fit peo­ple who live in Mac­cles­field and you re­quire ad­di­tional fund­ing to help make your project a suc­cess, we en­cour­age you to ap­ply for town coun­cil com­mu­nity grants.”

Re­quests for small grants up to £250 and large grants up to £2,000 are con­sid­ered at reg­u­lar Fi­nance Com­mit­tee meet­ings. They can be ap­plied for by down­load­ing forms from mac­cles­
