Celebration as walk raises £1,700 for cause
STAFF and friends from a Macclesfield care home have raised more than £1,700 for charity.
The staff at Prestbury House Care Home organised a 10 mile walk in aid of Cancer Research.
Debbie Machin set up the event as a team building exercise, with relatives also getting involved.
They walked from the West Park Drive care home in Macclesfield, to Astburymere Care Home in Congleton wearing pink wigs and tutus.
And once they had totted up the final fundraising amount, they then enjoyed a party for all the staff and residents, and presented the fundraising cheque to Cancer Research.
Michelle Walton, leisure and wellness co-ordinator, who helped organise the party with Debbie, said: “This event is one of the best, if not the best, we have ever had.
“All the staff and residents danced the afternoon away and I have never seen so many smiles and so much laughter at Prestbury House.”
Guests at the party – which included Mayor of Cheshire East Councillor Olivia Hunter – enjoyed performances from singer Sam Jones and food cooked by Prestbury House chef Richard Daibell, with certificates awarded to those who took part.
