School pals take on triathlon for char­ity

A PAIR of big-hearted girls are tak­ing on a triathlon to help two char­i­ties.

Best friends Emma Hud­son, 10, and Grace Par­sons, 11, will be run­ning 3km around Bolling­ton recre­ation ground be­fore tak­ing on a 10km bike ride along the Mid­dle­wood Way.

The fi­nal leg of their chal­lenge will be a 1km swim in the pool at Mac­cles­field Leisure Cen­tre.

The girls who are in year six at Dean Val­ley Pri­mary School in Bolling­ton, are hop­ing to raise money for two char­i­ties – the NSPCC, which cam­paigns against cru­elty to­wards chil­dren, and Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port, which helps peo­ple through their bat­tles with can­cer.

The event is tak­ing place on Satur­day, February 18.

Emma and Grace said: “We chose the NSPCC be­cause we are chil­dren and we want other chil­dren to be treated as we would like to be treated.

“We chose Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port be­cause we be­lieve that it is a worth­while char­ity.

“We have been train­ing re­ally hard as we want to achieve our goal.”

The girls have been col­lect­ing spon­sor­ship from their pals and teach­ers at school, as well as from other friends and fam­ily in the town.
