School pals take on triathlon for charity
A PAIR of big-hearted girls are taking on a triathlon to help two charities.
Best friends Emma Hudson, 10, and Grace Parsons, 11, will be running 3km around Bollington recreation ground before taking on a 10km bike ride along the Middlewood Way.
The final leg of their challenge will be a 1km swim in the pool at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.
The girls who are in year six at Dean Valley Primary School in Bollington, are hoping to raise money for two charities – the NSPCC, which campaigns against cruelty towards children, and Macmillan Cancer Support, which helps people through their battles with cancer.
The event is taking place on Saturday, February 18.
Emma and Grace said: “We chose the NSPCC because we are children and we want other children to be treated as we would like to be treated.
“We chose Macmillan Cancer Support because we believe that it is a worthwhile charity.
“We have been training really hard as we want to achieve our goal.”
The girls have been collecting sponsorship from their pals and teachers at school, as well as from other friends and family in the town.
