Dancers need new men to get in step
A LOCAL Morris Dancing troupe is calling for new members.
Adlington Morris Men is asking for potential recruits to come along to try the historic tradition.
The group meets at the 1st Woodford scout headquarters, Moor Lane, Woodford, every Tuesday from 8.30pm to 10pm.
They are accompanied by musicians adept at playing melodeon, concertina and fiddle.
After practising in the winter, the group perform at public events during the spring and summer.
Graham Smith from the group said: “Morris Dancing is a thriving, living, outdoor musical activity – with an ancient pedigree anyone will find great fun with bells on, guaranteed.
“Morris dancing is energetic and lots of fun.
“You need to be reasonably fit, have a sense of rhythm, enjoy team work, we’ll teach you the rest.
“It’s as simple as visiting any Tuesday evening for your ‘Strictly Morris” taster session.”
Adlington Morris Men come from a wide variety of backgrounds, engineers to teachers, retired policemen to nuclear physicists.
