MEMBERS and guests of Prestbury Flower Club welcomed demonstrator Janet James for the club’s first meeting of the year.

Janet stepped in when Lorena Dyer, who was due to speak, was taken ill at the last minute. She was able to use Lorena’s equipment and flowers to create a ‘jewellery box of flowers’ to represent the theme ‘diamonds are forever’.

Pam Piggott, from the club, said: “The day was saved by Janet who used the flowers and equipment prepared in advance by Lorena for her excellent, amusing, informative and very professional demonstration.

“Lorena’s husband chauffeured Janet to the venue from the Midlands at the last minute, so many thanks to him for rescuing a difficult situation.”

At the end of the meeting the flower displays were raffled off, with nine members going home with a display.

The flower club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Prestbury Village Hall. The next meeting is on April 5, with guest speaker Karen Schofield with her presentation ‘Season to Inspire’. There will also be a club competition for novices who have not previously won a competition, with the title ‘Bursting into Spring’.
