JANE TALK

‘BE­COM­ING Jane’ is the ti­tle of a talk by Pro­fes­sor Ros Bal­laster, who will be speak­ing at the Mac­cles­field Lit­er­ary and Philo­soph­i­cal Society.

Prof Bal­laster will in­tro­duce some of the women nov­el­ists who wrote be­fore Jane Austen and pre­pared the way for her writ­ing.

The meet­ing will be held tomorrow, Thurs­day, March 16, at Mac­cles­field Li­brary at 7.30pm. Please use the en­trance on Brunswick Street.

MIRTH AND FOLK

LOWER Withing­ton Par­ish Hall will host an evening of mu­sic and mirth on Fri­day, March 31, with com­edy folk group Cracked Flag.

The group is headed by Paul John­ston, who was with the pop­u­lar 1960s group Fivepenny Piece for 20 years.

Tick­ets cost £18 and in­clude a hot­pot sup­per. Guests are in­vited to bring their own drinks.
