Man to stand trial over Guy Whar­ton’s death

A MAN is to stand trial ac­cused of caus­ing the death of Tyther­ing­ton school teacher Guy Whar­ton by dan­ger­ous driv­ing.

Mr Whar­ton, 46, who was a cy­clist, died fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent on the Cat and Fid­dle road on June 7, last year.

Philip Lea Chris­tian, 41, of White Knowle Road, Buxton, ap­peared at Ch­ester Crown Court on Mon­day, March 20, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

A trial has been set at the same court for Fe­bru­ary 12, 2018.
