Youth sum­mit to de­bate pro­pos­als

YOUNG peo­ple are to come to­gether to help shape the fu­ture of fa­cil­i­ties and ser­vices in the town.

The Youth Sum­mit will take place at Mac­cles­field Town Hall on Thurs­day, March 30 from 3pm-5pm.

Run by Mac­cles­field Town Coun­cil it aims to em­power 16 to 21-yearolds by ask­ing them to dis­cuss is­sues that are im­por­tant to them and come up with a pro­posal which will be de­bated at a fu­ture coun­cil meet­ing.

Dur­ing the weeks be­fore the event, coun­cil­lors Neil Puttick and Adam Schofield, along with the town clerk Pete Turner, will be vis­it­ing school coun­cils and sixth forms across Mac­cles­field to ex­plain the role of coun­cil­lors and the Town Coun­cil.

They will also run an in­ter­ac­tive ac­tiv­ity de­signed to demon­strate the im­por­tance of reach­ing a de­ci­sion fol­low­ing dif­fer­ence of opin­ion.
