Pen­sion­ers in fine voice for chal­lenge

FUN-LOV­ING pen­sion­ers took cen­tre stage dur­ing a visit Mac­cles­field Town FC.

The res­i­dents of Prest­bury House Care Home were in­vited onto the pitch be­fore the club’s home game against Dul­wich Ham­let where they belted out a ren­di­tion of The Car­pen­ters’ ‘Sing’.

The per­for­mance was part of the Napa’s Sing A Song Chal­lenge in aid of Comic Re­lief and was cap­tured on video.

Prest­bury House is now hop­ing the per­for­mance will win a com­pe­ti­tion called ‘Carry On Singing’ which chal­lenges care homes to sing in their com­mu­nity. First prize is £1,000 cash.

The group is also plan­ning to take part in a na­tional sing-a-long at 3pm on Fri­day, March 24.Michelle Wal­ton, leisure and well­ness co-or­di­na­tor, said: “All the sup­port off the staff and res­i­dents was over­whelm­ing.

“Res­i­dents had a great time.

“We re­ally hope we win the Napa Chal­lenge this year”.

The Na­tional Ac­tiv­ity Providers As­so­ci­a­tion was founded in 1997 and aims to im­prove qual­ity of life, through per­son-cen­tred ac­tiv­i­ties, for older peo­ple.
