Glorious spring blooms make dazzling display
SPRING was in the air when Bollington and District Horticultural Society held their latest show.
There was a wide variety of flowers, plants and handicrafts on display at the 51st Spring Show in Bollington Civic Hall.
Among the visitors were residents from Ingersley Court care home.
Joyce Burton, secretary, said: “This is always my favourite show as it so clearly welcomes spring with the exquisite scent of the hyacinths as you enter the hall and the blindingly bright yellow arrays of daffodils.
“The show was very well attended and we were delighted to welcome some of the residents from Ingersley Court who thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon.”
There were trophies in various categories and Andree Fry was a big winner on the day. Sam Wainwright took the cup home in the children’s section.
Chairman Wendy Stoddart opened the prize giv- ing and handed proceedings to Bollington mayor Allan Williams, who said: “Who would have thought that a young lad of 14 leaving school who joined Sandbach Council as a gardener would end up as Bollington Mayor giving prizes?
“I’m delighted that there is so much here to see.”
