YOU may have heard our presenters on air but did you know about their background?

Our deputy station manager is Mark Blackman. The youngest of four, Mark (aka Blackers) is a Merseyside lad born and bred, who went to college and uni.

He’s been in Cheshire for over 15 years, so feels well and truly that the community is now in his blood. In that time, he’s worked at the Beeb and commercial radio in various guises, from reading travel news to presenting – even physically keeping one station on the air while broadcasting. Mark is a keen quizzer and has appeared on TV shows such as The Chase and Go For It. As deputy station manager he ‘takes care of business’ when necessary – the technical aspects, helping on various roadshows and events and filling in for other presenters when they go AWOL.

He’s a big fan of 80s music and, away from the station, he’s a resident DJ at The Berkeley, in Wigan. Blackers loves to socialise, meet new people and catch up with family and friends.

He is also a big Macclesfield Town fan and can regularly be seen in the Star Lane end at the Moss Rose with other Canalside presenters including Paul Trusswell, Nick Wright, and Brian Moores.

Catch up with Blackers at Breakfast – Mondays to Fridays 7am-10am on Canalside 102.8FM.
