Stellar result for night walk
THE Starlight Walk was another big success for East Cheshire Hospice, which is already planning a special 30th anniversary celebration next year.
More than 550 walkers strolled through the beautiful grounds of Capesthorne Hall at the hospice’s flagship fundraising event, sponsored by Sidney Jackson Ford Dealers.
Walkers went through a forest, some choosing one 2.5k loop while others covered two or four circuits.
Memory lanterns made by walkers were left at the finish. Candles were also lit and pebbles dropped into the lake in tributes of remembrance.
Volunteers included Army cadets from Macclesfield Squadron. Key 103’s Darren Proctor was compere, with live entertainment from Jukebox Band and a warm up by Sylk Dance Academy, plus face painting, while food and drink stalls kept everyone refreshed.
Jessica Ruth, events manager at the hospice, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who gave up their time to make it such a success and all the sponsors for their kind support.
“We had more people registering on the night than ever before and don’t know yet how much we’ve raised, but we’ll make the announcement on social media as soon as the total is finalised.
“All the money raised will go towards keeping the hospice running and providing vital care for patients.”
The hospice reaches its 30th birthday next year, when the Starlight Walk (Friday, April 20) will mark the milestone in style.
