Tythy boys sign off as champions
TYTHERINGTON under 18s were crowned Mid Cheshire League Division 1 Champions at the weekend, after a hard fought victory on Sunday against their nearest rivals Sandbach.
In the penultimate game of this season, Tytherington knew victory would hand them the title as Champions.
After a tense first half with the scores at 0-0, Tytherington broke the deadlock with 30 minutes remaining when Sam Glover converted a half chance, finishing well from 12 yards out.
That goal had the effect of spurring the side on, while opposition heads dropped. Further goals from Callum Atkins and Conor Beaden (2), followed, the pick of the bunch being a 50 yard pass from skipper Jake Eastham, putting Conor through on goal.
A super achievement from a local team of boys who have pretty much been together since they started at the age of six, ending their youth football venture as deserved champions.
Coach John Ebdon has worked with the boys throughout, and was a tearful man at the final whistle.
It was a deserving finale for boys and coaches alike as they collected the Cup and individual trophies on Sunday – a super season, from a super team.
