Whit­ney wins the Doris Cham­bers Salver

WILM­SLOW Golf Club pro­vided a per­fect stage with dry weather and a course in ter­rific con­di­tion for a strong and large field of top play­ers from across Cheshire as they hosted the medal com­pe­ti­tion for the cov­eted Doris Cham­bers Salver.

Wilm­slow were also ex­cel­lent hosts off the course with splen­did hospi­tal­ity.

On the course the for­mer Styal Lady Cap­tain Claire Whit­ney as de­lighted to win the Doris Cham­bers Salver as she posted a top nett score of 73 to fin­ish ahead of Alison Grant (Royal Liver­pool) 74 and An­drea Dun­stan (Por­tal Pre­mier) 75.

The other top prize was for the best gross score and it was won by Mau­reen Rich­mond of Royal Liver­pool GC with 76.

A Lom­bard qual­i­fier for Alder­ley Edge’s men was won by Steve Ben­nett with 41 points from Ian Pearce 4o and Paul Ellis 39.

The monthly medal for Mac­cles­field’s men had Pete Holmes first past the post with 67 from Chris Bowden 69 and Adrian Lamb 70.

The Ju­niors Pro Cup at Macc saw Ol­lie Tovee top divi­sion one with 37 points from Mitchell Hodg­son and Daisy Ward led in divi­sion two with 37 points.

Macc ladies played for the Doris Neale Cup and it was won by Ge­orgina Whalley with 36 points, one more than Wendy Hig­gins.

The April Stable­ford at Shrigley Hall saw Char­lie Wood in charge of divi­sion one with 40 points, two more than Rod­er­ick Scott.

In divi­sion two Ea­mon McGeady was the main man with 41 points from Howard Stringer 39.

A mid­week Stable­ford at Mot­tram Hall was won by Scott Kemp­son with 35
