Whitney wins the Doris Chambers Salver
WILMSLOW Golf Club provided a perfect stage with dry weather and a course in terrific condition for a strong and large field of top players from across Cheshire as they hosted the medal competition for the coveted Doris Chambers Salver.
Wilmslow were also excellent hosts off the course with splendid hospitality.
On the course the former Styal Lady Captain Claire Whitney as delighted to win the Doris Chambers Salver as she posted a top nett score of 73 to finish ahead of Alison Grant (Royal Liverpool) 74 and Andrea Dunstan (Portal Premier) 75.
The other top prize was for the best gross score and it was won by Maureen Richmond of Royal Liverpool GC with 76.
A Lombard qualifier for Alderley Edge’s men was won by Steve Bennett with 41 points from Ian Pearce 4o and Paul Ellis 39.
The monthly medal for Macclesfield’s men had Pete Holmes first past the post with 67 from Chris Bowden 69 and Adrian Lamb 70.
The Juniors Pro Cup at Macc saw Ollie Tovee top division one with 37 points from Mitchell Hodgson and Daisy Ward led in division two with 37 points.
Macc ladies played for the Doris Neale Cup and it was won by Georgina Whalley with 36 points, one more than Wendy Higgins.
The April Stableford at Shrigley Hall saw Charlie Wood in charge of division one with 40 points, two more than Roderick Scott.
In division two Eamon McGeady was the main man with 41 points from Howard Stringer 39.
A midweek Stableford at Mottram Hall was won by Scott Kempson with 35
