Batting woes scupper Kerridge’s ambitions
KERRIDGE suffered their second defeat in as many weeks as the short trip over to Mellor saw another poor display with the willow.
After winning the toss the visitors elected to bat first against a fairly ordinary bowling attack with Mellor having numerous players missing.
Stand in bowlers Vasan and Smith made the most of their opportunity and made short work of the Kerridge order claiming eight wickets between them to see Kerridge record a well below par score of just 93 inside 28 overs.
Luke Wild (18) and Alex Grimes (27) were the only scores to note with Carl Ryder the only other to achieve double figures.
Mellor required just 15.4 overs to chase down the total to claim a nine wicket victory.
Brythorpe (56*) and Kumar (24*) made it look easy compared to the visitors efforts.
A solitary wicket from Adam Banks spared the embarrassment of a ten wicket defeat and saw Kerridge leave with just one point from the game. Match ball sponsor on the day was Mr R Borrell.
Next Saturday Hartford visit Clarke Lane where there will be hopes of a better performance in more familiar territory.
