College holds open day
MACCLESFIELD College is holding an open day for its science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) courses.
School leavers can find out about STEM courses starting in September, including aeronautical engineering, construction and the built environment, electrical installation, IT, mechanical and general engineering.
Attendees will also be able to tour the campus and explore its engineering and construction facilities, including its fully functional BAE Jetstream 31 aircraft.
Rachel Kay, chief executive and principal, said: “Our aerospace facility is unique in the region and offers students a platform to develop specialist skills and build an exciting career. There is a wealth of opportunity for learners who join our courses.”
The open day is in response to the UK needing an additional 1.8m engineers and technically qualified people by 2025.
The event is from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, May 23.
