Sharp look about the squad ahead of final

Macclesfield Express - - SPORT -

NEILL Byrne believes his Macclesfield Town side are firing on all cylinders ahead of the FA Trophy final with York City on Sunday.

The Silkmen will be looking to end a season on a high by lifting the trophy at Wembley, and Byrne, right, has been pleased with what he has seen from his side over the past week.

“Training has been going well. We had a few days recovering but we’re back now,” he told the club’s official website.

“The tempo has been very good and we’ve done a lot of hard work.

“The lads have all been sharp since we have been back and you can see that everyone is working hard to get a place in the team for Wembley.”

The National League season already ended three weeks ago, but Byrne insists it hasn’t been a problem.

“No-one is complaining about it and everyone is looking forward to it. They are all working hard,” he said.

“During the season you go from Tuesday to Saturday then Tuesday to Saturday so this gives us a little extra time to go back over what we think we can do to improve so it gives us a lot more time to prepare for York.”
