Party with £100 grant
RESIDENTS have a week to apply for a £100 grant towards a street party or community event.
Cheshire East Council is supporting ‘The Great Get Together’, a national community event inspired by murdered Yorkshire MP Jo Cox.
Residents are encouraged to take pride in their community and hold a party over the weekend of June 17-18, with grants of up to £100 for those who make it happen. The money can be used to provide entertainment, food, decorations, craft materials etc.
Coun Paul Bates, cabinet member for finance and communities, said: “We can offer lots of information and advice as well as grants. Connected people are happier and healthier and I can’t think of a better tribute to Jo than for us all to connect and celebrate living in our local community.”
The council is planning its own community event at West Park, Macclesfield, on Sunday, June 18. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 31. Go to www.cheshireeast.gov. uk/get-together.
