insists a positive performance in front of the BT Sport cameras ensures that the team’s pride isn’t dented.

“It’s not a great feeling to be honest. We didn’t stop working, we didn’t stop playing. We played some great football. It’s disappointing to lose but we’ve gave a good account of ourselves, individually and as a team.

“We’ve shown what we can do.

“Although we’ve lost the game, we’ve dominated, which has been the story of our season really. If we had won the games that we’ve controlled throughout the season then we’d have been in the play-offs, we would’ve been battling for promotion. That’s how good we are when we play like that. We could’ve come and lost and not played well, which would’ve been a lot worse.

“But we’ve come and given a good account of ourselves and we can go home and hold our heads high.

“We came into the changing room and everyone was deflated, everyone was disappointed. That’s to be expected because we played so well.

“But it is what it is and we’ve got to pick ourselves up. We’ve got to go on as a group and make sure we try and enjoy it really. Although we are disappointed to lose, we’ve done really well to get here.”

“We’ve shown what we can do”
