Kerridge’s batting runs dry up in rain

Macclesfield Express - - WILDLIFE -

LEAGUE leaders Bowdon Vale were the visitors to Clarke Lane on Saturday where after a brief delay for rain Kerridge won the toss and batted first.

Runs have been hard to come by so far this season and was again the case as many of the lads got off the mark easy enough but couldn’t hang about to cause any real damage, with a good few playing on.

John Grayston held the middle order together with Alex Grimes and a late spurt from Carl Ryder and Chris Heapy saw the home side scrape past 100 before eventually finishing on 10. Jake Drape (4/19) and Harry Mills (3/23) inflicting the damage for the Vale.

With rain coming again the visitors were made to wait for their innings but after finally getting a break in the weather they were able to knock off the runs quite easily. K Rajaman with 56* and S Hopton with 22 comfortably securing the win within 20 overs. Kerridge had managed to peg them back slightly taking 3 wickets along the way with Grimes (1/13) and Adam Banks (2/21) the wicket takers.

Kerridge now have two weeks to wait before hopefully bouncing back when Rostherne travel over on June 10.

Thanks to matchball sponsors on the day, Mr & Mrs G Astle
