Saughall predictably difficult for Kerridge
HAVING taken 75 points in the last three weeks, Kerridge travelled to Chester to play Saughall.
It was always going to be a tough game with Saughall being a consistently good side and their league position reflects this.
In yet more glorious sunshine, Kerridge elected to field and the opening bowling attack of James Knight (2/18) and Adam Banks (2/31) did a good job of containing the hosts and bowled tightly to restrict them to 49/4 off 28 overs.
With both having bowled their quota, Kerridge tried numerous bowlers to maintain the pressure but never found anyone to really pin down the batsmen and in the last 17 overs the visitors haemorrhaged 140 runs to finish on 189/4 with A Griffiths 86no and S Watts 56no inflicting the damage.
Kerridge scored nearly 300 last week, but looked completely different with bat in hand this week and disastrously lost wickets frequently at on stage 6/0 becoming 14/8.
The last two wickets doubled the score to 28ao but after such a bad start a hammering was always on the cards. Andrews took 4/15 and skipper Roberts took 5/12.
A day to forget but with another away game on Saturday at Heaton Mersey, a notoriously bad wicket leaves them with a lot of work to be done in the nets.
The club offered thanks to the match ball sponsor Dr & Mrs B Cox.
