Macclesfield Express - - SCHOOLS NEWS -

CHILDREN have been taking part in extracurricular activities as part of a summer programme.

The pupils from Bollington St John’s CE Primary School had a go at photography and played golf during the academy programme, which has launched for the summer term.

Each year the children choose an experience they would like to take part in from a list of extracurricular options. They attend the academy of their choice on Wednesday morning until the end of term.

This year children have been able to choose from 15 academies including craft activities, golf at Shrigley Hall, a police academy run by PCSOs and a photography academy by Lumi Studios in Macclesfield.

Two students from the journalism academy photographed the action for the school website.

Headteacher Melanie Walker said: “The last academy day is a celebration of all that the children have learnt and a chance to thank the people in our community that took part.

“The academies give the children the chance to try new experiences. It’s a chance for our school community to take part and come together to celebrate the children’s achievements.”
