NOT GUILTY PLEA
A MAN has appeared in court to deny murdering restaurant boss Giuseppi Roncari.
Vincenzo Tavano, 32, of Park Lane, Poynton, appeared at Manchester Crown Court via a video link from prison and pleaded not guilty to murder.
A trial, scheduled to last a week, will be held at the same court in October.
Mr Tavano spoke to confirm his name and that he could hear the proceedings, before giving his plea.
Addressing him, Judge Patrick Field said: “This case is now being adjourned until October 9 when your trial will take place at this court.
“Between now and the date of your trial you will remain in custody.”
Police were called to a property on Blackburn Street, in Salford, at about 7.20pm on Monday, April 17, where Mr Roncari was found dead.
The 61-year-old had managed the Avalanche restaurant in Manchester city centre.
