NOT GUILTY PLEA

A MAN has ap­peared in court to deny mur­der­ing restau­rant boss Giuseppi Ron­cari.

Vin­cenzo Ta­vano, 32, of Park Lane, Poyn­ton, ap­peared at Manch­ester Crown Court via a video link from prison and pleaded not guilty to mur­der.

A trial, sched­uled to last a week, will be held at the same court in Oc­to­ber.

Mr Ta­vano spoke to con­firm his name and that he could hear the pro­ceed­ings, be­fore giv­ing his plea.

Ad­dress­ing him, Judge Pa­trick Field said: “This case is now be­ing ad­journed un­til Oc­to­ber 9 when your trial will take place at this court.

“Be­tween now and the date of your trial you will re­main in cus­tody.”

Po­lice were called to a prop­erty on Black­burn Street, in Sal­ford, at about 7.20pm on Mon­day, April 17, where Mr Ron­cari was found dead.

The 61-year-old had man­aged the Avalanche restau­rant in Manch­ester city cen­tre.
