Cakes and flowers greet club members
MEMBERS of Prestbury Flower Club were greeted with cakes when they arrived for their latest meeting, kindly baked by committee members.
Zena Stone, from Bolton, gave a demonstration ‘Can’t See the Wood for the Trees’, in which she different types of wood in her displays.
For two of her displays she used large pieces of driftwood which she had cleaned and polished. One was covered in chicken wire with tubes attached containing gloriosa, and the other was a large tree root on which were arums, red and pink gemini and pink carnations.
Pam Piggott, from the club, said: “Zena produced 10 designs which were put into the raffle, meaning many happy ladies went home from this meeting with flowers and cakes.”
After her demonstration Zena judged the club competition for the Jessie Kite Petite Trophy entitled ‘From the Garden’, which was won for the second year running by our secretary Jackie Burns and presented by our president Lucienne Nicoll.
The next meeting is on September 6 at Prestbury Village Hall.
The demonstration will be given by Margaret Rumens from Solihull and will be called ‘Serendipity.’
