Trialists are key
MACCLESFIELD Town assistant manager Steve Watson admits the club will probably keep using trialists over the next few weeks as they continue to look to strengthen their squad.
The Silkmen lost a lot of their key players at the start of the summer, but have now managed to bring in a lot of new faces.
Macc still hope to make more acquisitions before the start of the season, and Watson says that the trialist route could be one they use.
“We will continue to look at players who may come on trial. That may be a good market for us as the pre-season progresses,” he told the club’s official website.
“We’re now not a million miles away from having a squad that is ready to start the season.
“There are a couple that we would like to nail down, and then hopefully we’ll be starting the season with a decent number of lads and we’ll be ready to go.”
One player that Macclesfield have brought in over the past week was Kieran Kennedy, with the 23-year-old signing a one-year deal at the Moss Rose.
Kennedy had spent the last couple of weeks training with the club before signing his deal.
