Anger over surgery’s one hour parking limit
PATIENTS have complained about a new scheme to catch drivers who park illegally at the town’s GP surgery.
Waters Green Medical Centre has signed up ParkingEye to issue £70 fines to drivers who park at the surgery without an appointment. It’s designed to catch offenders who take up parking spaces meant for patients.
But residents have expressed concerns over the scheme.
Many state that the one-hour limit given to patients to park their cars for appointments is not long enough.
Ben Ritchie said on the Express Facebook page: “They are only allowing you an hour for parking. It is ridiculous!
“How many times have you been to the doctor and they have been running at least 30 mins late?”
A spokesman for the surgery said: “The amount of time we are offering is fair to any motorist using the facilities at Waters Green Medical Centre.
“If a patient is worried they have been on site for an hour or longer we encourage them to contact reception staff so they can ensure no parking charge is generated. We encourage people to appeal a parking charge if they think they should not have received it.”
