Racing champ’s song for pal
A JUNIOR racing champ has recorded a charity single to help a friend who suffered lifechanging injuries in a crash.
Cameron Roberts, formerly of Siddington, raced in the same team with Billy Monger, who lost the lower half of both of his legs in an accident at Donington Park at Easter.
Away from the track Cameron, 18, has ambitions for a career in music and decided to fundraise for his friend.
He has recorded and produced a version of Alistair Griffin’s 2010 hit ‘Just Drive’, a song well known in racing circles for its use in Sky Sports’ Formula One coverage.
Cameron, who performs under the name of CJ Roberts, has remixed the song to give it a pop/ dance sound and added vocalist Quinti. The song is now available to download on most platforms.
Cameron, who is studying music at South Cheshire College, said: “Billy has been amazingly strong and courageous throughout his ordeal and I hope we can raise some more funds to help him along the long road ahead.”
Cameron, a former Marton and Eaton Bank schools pupil, has been racing since he was little and won the karting British Championship in 2012.
