Nursery unveils £30,000 play area
A NURSERY has unveiled its new outdoor play area after raising £30,000.
The team at the Hollies Pre-School in Poynton started fundraising as the old play surface was becoming unsafe.
They held balls, sponsored toddles and staff runs and won donations from the Round Table, Ladies Circle and Rotary groups. Now the play area has been officially opened at a celebration event.
Debbie Moore-Grundy, manager, said: “The committee, staff, children and parents have worked extremely hard to help raise the money and we continue to do so.”
The ribbon was cut by MP David Rutley and Coun Sandra Horsman, the former mayor of Poynton, also attended. Mr Rutley said: “It was great to visit the Hollies Pre-School and have the honour of opening this play area. I’m sure this new high quality outside space will allow the pre-school to more fully support the children and their parents.”
The pre-school is a charity run by volunteers which started out 40 years ago in a scout hut. It offers various clubs for children. Contact 01625 850176 to find out more.
