Care home staff step out to raise Alzheimer’s cash
STAFF at a care home have handed over a cheque for more than £2,000 to the Alzheimer’s Society.
A team of fundraisers from Prestbury House Care Home in Macclesfield walked 10 miles from the home to Hazel Grove to raise money for the charity.
Organised by team leader Debbie Machin, they wore blue wigs and Alzheimer’s T-shirts to show their support for the cause.
Michelle Walton, leisure and wellness coordinator at the home, said: “This is the second fundraising charity walk that Debbie has organised and I am overwhelmed by the support shown by the staff and relatives who have taken part in the event.
“It was a great team building exercise, bringing the staff together while having fun at the same time. I would like to say well done to Debbie Machin and all the staff and relatives who have given us their support and participated”.
The Alzheimer’s Society is close to the hearts of many at Prestbury House Care Home where dementia care is provided to many residents. All who took part in the walk and residents enjoyed an afternoon of fun, fine food and danced away with singer Sam Jones.
