Prestbury take 16 points with Philips’ 63

Macclesfield Express - - WILDLIFE - BILL LIVESLEY

PRESTBURY captain Ben Oakes won the toss and decided to bat.

Adam Philips and Steve Oldfield started the innings with a partnership of 22 before Oldfield was caught for 5.

This brought in Tremayne Ryder who with Philips took the score onto 46.

when Tyler departed for 10, runs at this time were difficult to get but with Guri Singh at the wicket he and Philips kept the scoreboard ticking over and brought up the 100 and it wasn’t until the score was 134 that Philips was out caught for a fine 63 off 109 balls.

a good base was made for Aqeel Ahmed to push the score on in the last 8 overs and he did just that; scorning 50 off 25 balls with 5 sixes and with the help of Singh, they took the sore to 200 before Ahmed was superbly caught on the boundary.

Sam Crosby came in and ended up 2 not out with Singh 53 not out.

the innings closed on 204 for 4 off 45 overs. Stockport started their innings after tea, needing 205 but lost an early wicket to Singh.

soon he had two wickets when he had Grindey lbw 27 for 2 .

Stockport Trinity dug in and took the score to 114, when Ryder got Higginbotham caught by that man Singh for 37 then Singh also had shaw caught by Oldfield for 52.

Prestbury needed to push their advantage. Ryder did get the wicket of Samuels, bowled.

Some dropped catches proved costly as the next wicket didn’t fall until the 41st over when Singh had Potts caught by Philips for 12.

The only other wicket to fall was in the last over when Ahmed bowled Jones, so Stockport trinity finished on 166 for 7 off 45 bowling figures Singh 4 for 41 Ryder 2 for 3.

Prestbury’s man of the match was Adam Philips

Prestbury picked up 16 points and take on Chelford at home next Saturday.
