Jailed man harassed his ex after horror knife incident
A MAN jailed after chasing his ex-girlfriend with a knife started harassing her on Facebook exactly a year after the horror incident.
Richard Dean, 46, from Macclesfield was locked up for 20 months after chasing her with an eight-inch blade around the garden of their home.
Prosecutors described the episode in July last year as like a ‘scene from Psycho’.
Dean was released on licence in June having served half of his custodial sentence.
But despite the indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting the victim, he started sending her messages on Facebook on July 24 – the anniversary of the terrifying assault.
At Crewe magistrates’ court, Dean, of Princess Way, admitted harassment and breaching a restraining order imposed by Chester Crown Court on October 31, 2016.
He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison suspended for 24 months.
Court documents said the reason for the sentence was because the Facebook account was set up specifically to contact the complainant, he had only been released from custody on licence in June, and it was a flagrant breach.
