Retirement work starts
WORK has started on a new retirement development alongside the canal.
Developer Adlington has begun work on its £13m development of 64 one, two and three-bedroom apartments for the over 60s on Buxton Road in Macclesfield.
The Bridges is on the banks of the Macclesfield Canal and is due to open in 2019.
Coun Beverley Dooley, mayor of Macclesfield, said: “It’s fantastic to see a development like this in Macclesfield and I do hope it will provide a great experience for the many people and their families that can benefit from independent living like this.
“Macclesfield has a wonderful community and I’m really looking forward to seeing The Bridges become a new addition to it.”
The apartments allow older people to live independently but there will be 24-hour on site care, as well as spa and restaurant, a hairdressing salon, lounge area and activities and crafts room.
Claire Reede, sales and marketing manager, said: “We’re thrilled that work has began on our new site in a beautiful location overlooking Macclesfield Canal and we’re very excited to see it progress over the coming months.”
