Volunteers help build a better future at trust
A TEAM of managers from a building society put down their pens and grabbed trowels to help out at a Sutton charity.
The group of 11 from Leek United Building Society spent the day working in the gardens at the Rossendale Trust, which supports adults with disabilities.
They were tasked with planting up hanging baskets and making A-frame boards to display them for sale to the public, with proceeds going to the trust.
Veronica McNeil – who organised the visit to Rossendale Hall and is manager of the Macclesfield branch – said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, which hopefully benefited a wonderful community facility and was a great team-building exercise for ourselves.
“The trust very kindly provided us with the space to hold our monthly branch managers’ meeting, after which we joined some of the tenants in planting hanging baskets and constructing display boards.”
Karl Downing, PR, media and fundraising officer at The Rossendale Trust, added: “We are very grateful to Leek United for helping to make such a positive environmental impact for our tenants.”
