Macclesfield Express - - TRAVEL - BILL LIVESLEY

PRESTBURY took on Chelford knowing only a win would keep pressure on the teams above them.

After winning the toss, openers Stu Costello and Steve oldfield hit 13 runs from six overs before Costello was out lbw for 10.

Oldfield then went for a single run, so with Guri Singh and tom Livesley fresh to the wicket, they needed to build a partnership.

Slowly, both batsmen worked the ball around the wicket and after 28 overs they had put together a 103 partnership.

Livesley was out for a patient 61 off 94 balls but when Tremayne Ryder went second ball (0) and Aqeel Ahmed also went quickly for 3, followed by Kavin Shanmugam for 6, reaching a defendable total was going to be difficult as the score was at 130 for 6 off 40 overs.

But Chris Hall, in his first match for the firsts this season, smashed 40 off 18 with six fours and two sixes and with Singh he took the score to 180 off 44 overs in a partnership of 54 off 27 balls.

Hall was out, caught, and this brought in Ben Oakes (1). At the close of the 45 overs Sam Gilding was not out (2) and that man Singh 55 not out.

Prestbury finished on 187 for 8.

Chelford started after tea on reaching 188 but Ryder got both openers – 15 for 2 off four overs.

The Chelford batsmen got the innings going, taking the score to 75 off 14 overs, but Prestbury captain Oakes was rotating his bowling attack, introducing off spinner Cameron Kirkland.

He had early success when Ryder caught H Khalid for 32 but Chelford took the score to 102 before Kirkland struck again having M Tahir caught by Shanmugam for 18.

Prestbury now started to take control as Singh got F Khalid lbw for 35, Singh then bowled Z Khan (0), then Zu Khan lbw for 10.

Chelford were now 121 for 7 and it was soon was 133 for 8 when A Sajwa was lbw to Singh.

The end was near and Kirkland wrapped it up when he had V Khan caught for 3, Chelford 133 all out.

Prestbury bowling Singh 4 for 30, Kirkland 4 for 39 and Ryder 2 for 21. Joint man of the match Guri Singh and Tom Livesley. Next week Prestbury are at league leaders Kingsley.
