Loan star hails grit of young Silkmen

Macclesfield Express - - SPORT -

NEW Macclesfield Town signing Adam Yates was delighted to mark his debut with a win after the 1-0 win at Wrexham.

Yates played a key part in helping the Silkmen come out on top, and the new loan recruit was glad to contribute.

“I have to say I’m pleased with the way things have gone, not just for myself but for a lot of the young lads,” he told the club’s official website.

“We want to get as many points on the board as possible. I was a surprised by how much football was played, but we played in the right areas and that was the key to winning.

“There were some young players on that pitch for Macclesfield and every single player put a shift in. It was a thoroughly deserved three points.

“Three out of the back four have played a lot of league football, but I feel like we’re all good communicators and that bodes well. We tried not to drop deep, dealt with a lot of balls coming into the box, and we limited them to only two or three chances.

“It’s great to come to a club like Wrexham – with an intimidating atmosphere for some players – and still grind out the result like we did.

“I’ve been promoted from this league before but I have to say the grit these lads showed in front of a big crowd is admirable.”
