Day of fun helps nusery families hit £1,000 jackpot
ANURSERY’S Family Fun Day has raised £1,000 for charity.
Footprints Day Nurseries held a Family Fun Day in aid of Ollie’s Army, a charity focussed on battling Batten’ disease.
Ollie and his sister Amelia Carroll, from Poynton, have both been diagnosed with Battens Disease which results in neurological impairment, the rare genetic condition is degenerative and there is no cure.
Their family have pledged to make every moment count for their children and to raise awareness of the condition which affects only five or six children in the UK each year. The fundraising event was held at Dean Valley School, in Bollington, with staff from both the Macclesfield and Bollington branches of the nursery running stalls in order to raise as much money as possible.
Families enjoyed the sunshine by taking part in events and activities such as the cross bar challenge, having their nails painted, their make-up and hair done, enjoying the bouncy castle and purchasing bedding plants and other prizes which had been donated to the cause.
Overall the nursery raised £1,000 for Ollie’s Army.
Rachel Parry, nursery manager of Footprints Day Nursery in Bollington said: “We are so delighted that so many families came to Family Fun Day!
“The even had so many different things going on for everyone, from the cross bar challenge, to a bedding plant stall and an amazing bouncy castle.
“Everyone had such a wonderful day and we’re so glad that Ollie and Amelia, along with their Mum and Dad, Lucy and Mike, came down to enjoy themselves with us.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated and came to our Bollington nursery for the family fun day and helped us raise so much money for such a worthy cause.
“Also, special thanks to the Huntington family, Aroma Coffee & Sandwich Bar in Macclesfield and David G Ross Nursery in Kettleshulme for their donations and services through out the day.”
