Guests enjoy their holiday at home

Macclesfield Express - - CHARITY ROUND-UP -

A CHURCH hosted a special ‘holiday at home’ event to give guests the chance to get together, socialise and try new activities - just as they would on holiday.

The event was organised by Syliva and Richard Johnson for Hurdsfield Church, and was held at Holy Trinity Church over three days, with free transport available to those who need it.

Speaking after the event, Christine Button said: “Each day started with coffee and biscuits on arrival and later a glass of sherry or fruit juice and a two course hot lunch.

“The day finished with home made cakes and tea or coffee. In the morning guests could choose between craft workshops, hand massages, indoor games and outdoor games like putting, croquet and boules. Or they could sit and chat, read and relax.”

Before lunch there was a ‘thought for the day’ and in the afternoon, fun games and music. This year’s event included music from The Hullaballoo choir from Wilmslow Guild, Rainow Church handbell ringers and ‘Jan the Hulaman’ with fun, quirky and happy music.

The event was also made possible to the hard work of 18 volunteers plus three cooks and helpers in the kitchen.

People enjoying ‘Holidays at Home’ in Macclesfield.
