Fun at MAC for parents and tots
MORE than 150 babies and toddlers enjoyed a special fun day at MAC Activity Centre.
The baby, toddler and mum-to-be event was organised by mum-of-two Nicki Lowden, from Macclesfield, who came up with the idea to host a family event to give Macclesfield parents a taste of what support is around.
Babies were entertained with music classes, baby yoga and baby sensory, while toddlers enjoyed performances from Macclesfield dance school Dance Addicts, toddler sign language classes and a toddler ‘wheels’ session with bikes, trikes and scooters.
And while the children played, parents and carers were given the chance to learn all about the support groups available to them, with demonstrations from Millie’s Trust Children’s First Aid.
Nicki, who runs Dance Addicts with her husband Allan, said more than 300 people were at the event.
She said: “We are lucky to have a rich tapestry of post natal support groups, breastfeeding support groups, social and educational baby classes, and baby weaning groups. So, I decided it would be rather nice to pull together all the groups I could muster and arrange an event where mums, dads, grandparents and carers could pop in and find all these groups under one roof.
“I was sceptical that I could make it happen but have been amazed by the response I received.”
The £450 raised at the event will go to MAC Multi Activity Centre, which runs ‘Toddler Wheels’ sessions and is hoping to install a soft play area for children.
Nicki runs a parent and toddler dance and activity classes every Saturday at DW Sports, Macclesfield.
