Man sent abusive messages to ex-wife
AN EX-husband sent abusive messages to his former wife in breach of a restraining order.
Robert Burdock, 51, of Sugar Lane, Rainow, told his ex he ‘detested her’ among numerous texts sent when subject to a restraining order which was imposed after Burdock was convicted of assaulting the woman in May 2016.
Prosecuting, Steve Woodman, said: “He was with his ex-wife for 25 years and they have been separated for three years. There were text messages between the couple but they became abusive and she contacted the police.
“She said she found the abusive texts upsetting.
“He said he detested her that they can ‘get brutal’.”
The court heard Burdock has previous ‘impeccable character’.
He pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order.
Burdock said: “It was stupid and childish We’re on good terms now.”
Burdock was fined £150 and must pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
