Macc thinks pink to support cancer fight

Macclesfield Express - - CARE HOME WORKERS SCANDAL -

PINK-THEMED events are popping up across Macclesfield in aid of breast cancer.

Paint Macc Pink will raise money and awareness for charity Prevent Breast Cancer.

One of the main events is a bar crawl involving 21 pubs which starts this weekend (from October 6 to 15). Participants buy entry cards from one of the venues and those who visit 10 venues could win a prize. A team of town doormen wearing pink will tour the pubs with husky dogs on Saturday to promote the event.

Sarah Bentley, 28, an organiser, says the charity is close to her heart as she is about to undergo surgery to prevent breast cancer.

She said: “My aunt, uncle, grandmother, great aunt and great grandmothers had breast cancer and this increases my risk to 40per cent. My aunt survived breast cancer but other family members didn’t. This caused my dad to have a preventative double mastectomy and I’m doing the same but with reconstruction. It’s such an important cause.”

There’s a charity ride with the Bitter & Twisted motorcycle group on October 22 and Sing Macc Pink event on November 26. Visit face paintmaccpink for more.
