Everyday lives captured on film
OUR nostalgia column brings you fascinating pictures taken in Macclesfield in days gone by. IN this week’s column, we are bringing you another selection of old photographs.
We have teamed up with Macclesfield Library and Cheshire Archives and Local Studies to share old photographs from the archives and will be featuring several different images each week.
Working lives are captured in this week’s series of images – from newspapers being delivered to a newsagents on Roe Street to market stalls outside the town hall and weavers and sewers making their living creating ties and shirts.
Explore old books, maps and newspapers at Macclesfield Library, Jordangate, SK10 1EE or visit archives.cheshire.gov. uk.
We would love to hear your memories relating to any of the pictures we share. If you have additional information on the pictures featured today, please contact staff at the Cheshire Image Bank by visiting www. cheshireimagebank.org.uk and clicking on ‘Can you help?’
