Stu­dents to have a day with MP

AS­PIR­ING politi­cians are in­vited to a day in Par­lia­ment with the MP.

Sixth for­m­ers have the op­por­tu­nity to at­tend the Par­lia­men­tary In­duc­tion Day with Mac­cles­field MP David Rut­ley to get a glimpse of how West­min­ster works.

Ten stu­dents will watch de­bates in the pub­lic gal­leries of the House of Com­mons and the House of Lords, sit in on a Se­lect Com­mit­tee and be given a guided tour of the his­toric Palace of West­min­ster. Mr Rut­ley will join stu­dents for a ques­tion and an­swer ses­sion.

Mr Rut­ley said: “En­gag- ing the next gen­er­a­tion in our po­lit­i­cal pro­cesses and en­cour­ag­ing them to be­come ac­tive cit­i­zens is vi­tal and I’m pleased to be able to or­gan­ise this event once again. I en­cour­age any young per­son in­ter­ested to get in touch soon.”

The Par­lia­men­tary In­duc­tion Day is on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 24, from 9am to 4.30pm.
