Par­lia­ment in­vite for sixth for­m­ers

SIXTH for­m­ers are be­ing in­vited by MP David Rut­ley to visit him at the House of Com­mons.

Par­lia­men­tary In­duc­tion Day on Tues­day Oc­to­ber 24 will give stu­dents the op­por­tu­nity to watch de­bates in the pub­lic gal­leries of the House of Com­mons and the House of Lords, sit in on a Se­lect Com­mit­tee, and be given a guided tour of the his­toric Palace of West­min­ster.

Mr Rut­ley will also join stu­dents for a ques­tion and an­swer ses­sion.

The event will en­able up to ten lo­cal sixth for­m­ers in­ter­ested in pol­i­tics to learn more about the Par­lia­men­tary process and how our demo­cratic in­sti­tu­tions work.

Mr Rut­ley said: “En­gag­ing the next gen­er­a­tion in our po­lit­i­cal pro­cesses and en­cour­ag­ing them to be­come ac­tive cit­i­zens is vi­tal, and I am pleased to be able to or­gan­ise this event once again.
