Ooo la la! Euro languages day is fun way to learn

Macclesfield Express - - SCHOOLS NEWS -

PUPILS enjoyed themed activities, wore traditional dress and sampled foreign food as part of European Day of Languages at Tytherington School.

The school welcomed 120 pupils from Parkroyal Community School for a morning of language lessons and cultural activities.

Pupils spent part of the morning learning Spanish, Japanese, Arabic and Russian and then got stuck into creative activities linked to that language.

At lunch there was a food and activity market where students sampled delicacies such as Spanish tortillas and German salami and had fun practising their written language skills on a ‘word tree’ which is now on display. The students dressed up in Spanish Flamenco dresses, German hats and French berets in a selfie booth.

Miss Roe, head of the modern foreign languages department, said: “We have a long history at Tytherington of excellent results at GCSE and A-level but also believe in providing students with as many opportunities as possible to immerse themselves in languages and culture. We are very excited to be starting a new programme of Mandarin lessons.”
