Smith is top Graduate
GRAEME Smith won the 2017 Caterham Graduates motor racing championship at Silverstone at the weekend, in his Caterham 7 sports car.
A win and a second place were enough to seal the championship for the Macclesfield man for the fifth time.
The title was decided across 15 races at racing circuits all around the country, and an overseas round at the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort. Graeme won six of the races, and was second another six times.
“Its great to be back at the top again, after not winning the championship since 2010” said Smith. “A retirement with an engine issue at Croft Autodrome in Yorkshire in the summer made it tough, but I’ve had a strong finish to the season.”
He receives his championship trophy at the British Automobile Racing Club awards dinner in February.
