Good enough to eat

Euonymus hamiltonianus – Pink Delight ONE of my favourite plants at this time of the year is the spindle tree, Euonymus.

It gains its common name because in times gone by the wood was used to make wool-spinning spindles.

Its vibrant autumnal foliage is second to none and it produces wonderful pink fruits which usually split open to reveal orange inside.

With this variety, they open to reveal dark pink seeds, creating a delightful profusion of colour on bare stems, the perfect tonic for a grey November day.

Grow in a sheltered spot in moist but well drained soil. They are happy in acidic soil too.
