Louise in training for marathon....

-

A MACCLESFIELD woman is already training hard after taking up an East Cheshire Hospice Challenge for next year.

Louise Jennings, 37, from Broken Cross has just taken the hospice place in the 2018 London Marathon – one of the most prestigious marathons in the world.

“I’ve always loved keeping fit but there’s no doubt this will be a massive challenge for me,” says Louise.

“I’m managing to run two or three times a week with other fitness training and, at the moment, it’s all going well.”

Louise, who last weekend completed the Tatton Park 10K, says trying to squeeze in her training with a part-time job in Lindsay Howard’s hairdressing salon and also looking after three children is the toughest part.

“At the moment I’m actually enjoying getting out there for a run even on cold and icy mornings but it’s trying to find the time to do everything that I am finding the biggest challenge”.

Louise says she was inspired to take on the marathon next April after fundraising for the hospice last year when she raised £500 by completing a sprint triathlon.

“The hospice provides massive support for so many people in the town,” she said.

“So many people have been touched by the tremendous work that they do and I know this will help motivate me in the months to come.”

Events manager at the hospice, Jo Boyd, said she’s full of admiration for everyone who manages to commit to push themselves out of their comfort zone for the Hospice Challenge.

“Next year is a really important one for us and we hope that more people than ever will mark our 30th anniversary with their own personal, physical challenge,” she said.

Louise is hoping to raise £3,000 for the hospice and has just opened her fundraising page for donations at uk.virginmoneygiving. com/Louisejennings2.
